HOWTO: Disable Storage Expiry on Enterprise Vault

Overview

If storage expiry is configured, the Enterprise Vault Storage service automatically deletes items from archives when their retention periods expire.

During migration of archived email with Cloudficient EVComplete tool, it's recommend to disable storage expiry so archived emails are not automatically deleted by Enterprise Vault.

When "Storage Expiry" is enabled we can encounter inconsistency of data count during active migrations.

Solution

1. In the left pane of the Administration Console expand the hierarchy until the appropriate vault site is visible.

2. Right-click the vault site and then, on the shortcut menu, click Properties.

3. In the Site Properties dialog box, click the Storage Expiry tab.

4. In the Storage expiry tab, select "Never" under Process Vault store and apply changes

Storage Expiry is now disabled and no data will be removed during migration.
