Legacy-EV-No-Folder created during migration

Last modified:

In archives that contain items that had no folder associated with them in EV (e.g. in the root of the archive), EVC will create a folder titled "Legacy-EV-No-Folder" to migrate these items to.

Items can exist without a folder for a few reasons:

  • Retention Policies: The email may have reached the end of its retention period according to the archiving policies configured in Enterprise Vault. When an email's retention period expires, it may be moved to a default location, which could be the root of the Enterprise Vault.
  • Manual Archiving: An administrator or user with appropriate permissions might have manually archived the email to the root level.
  • Archiving Rules or Policies: Archiving rules or policies set in Enterprise Vault may dictate that certain emails are to be archived at the root level.
  • Folder Hierarchy Changes: If there have been changes to the folder hierarchy within the mailbox after the email was archived, it might appear at the root if its original location no longer exists.
  • System Errors or Glitches: Occasionally, system errors or glitches might cause emails to be misplaced. This is less common but cannot be ruled out.
